Sessa And Sk Kakraba Performing At Zebulon, Los Angeles, CA

Enjoy Sessa’s debut album Grandeza that revolves around the natural gesture of love and the softness of the human body. This album truly depicts Sessa’s love for Brazilian music and its true essence.

His long-standing view of music in collaboration with American guitar legend Yonatan Gat and Sessa’s association with São Paulo’s psych-punk group Garotas Suecas is well known in the American and Brazilian music world. His songs sung in Portuguese are totally becoming an obsession with intuitive and sexual lyrics.  However, the music gets a minimalist treatment and a reminiscent of the bareness of Leonard Cohen among contemporary Brazilian music. 

Sessa’s concerts are famous in Brazil and, he is only accompanied by the female backing choir and African Brazilian bass beat. His music shows Brazil’s songwriting history.  The songs revolve around topics such as sensory physical and spiritual transcendence. Plus, music points to new, more subtle directions for world pop music in 2019-depth. It hints the use of infinitely rich textures and rhythms to define music which is totally loveable.

Sk Kakraba

One of the world’s best-known masters of instruments, Sk Kakraba is a xylophonist from Ghana. Sk Kakraba is the nephew of famous master Xylophonist Kakraba Lobi and has learned to play since his childhood. He plays Gyil- a wooden xylophone basically found in Ghana. Being the master of Gyil, Sk Kakraba plays as well as makes the instrument. Before moving to Los Angeles, CA, SK was an instructor of Gyil at the international center of African Music and Dance at the University of Ghana.
