A Huntington Beach Ford Service Shop Compares the 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor to the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX
Two of the most dependable truck manufacturers, Ford and Ram have released competitive models in the new year that auto enthusiasts can’t wait to test drive. According to Huntington Beach Ford service experts, the 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor and the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX can definitely go head-to-head in the performance department. So, how can we tell these models apart? Let’s dive in.
Ford’s F-150 Raptor took a backseat in the last few months in order to accommodate the necessary 2021 redesign. While the powertrain for the new Ford truck is questionable, experts are estimating more than 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. In the meantime, Ram launched the new 702-horsepower TRX which now stands at the top of its class. Essentially, the TRX holds the power in this situation. However, experts speculate that the 2021 Raptor will hold a better fuel economy. Regardless of their powertrains, both trucks will benefit from Huntington Beach and Orange County offroad & auto repair when they need a little TLC.
The Raptor and TRX both offer four-wheel-drive with a variety of driver-assistive modes for different terrain. So, while they haven’t been tested side-by-side, each truck has the tools needed to tackle basic offroading. In fact, their approach/departure angles, water fording, coil-sprung rear suspension, and ground clearance are almost identical.
The Huntington Beach Ford service experts of Top Line Performance are saying that each vehicle relies on different shocks for the 100 mph-plus desert running. Ford has brought in FOX Internal Bypass shocks with Live Valve technology while Ram is suing Bilstein Black Hawk e2 adaptive shocks. Each requires electronically-controlled valves to continuously adapt their damping with each terrain. If you need a truck with a beefed-up frame, then you’ll get it with Ford or Ram
The 2021 Ford Raptor offers an optional limited-slip differential which serves as a better option than the TRX’s open front differential. However, neither of these functionalities can prioritize low-speed crawling. The TRX and Raptor have 35-inch tires that work well for low-speed and high-speed maneuvers. Although, the Raptor has optional 37-inch tires to set it apart in style, height, and clearance. Ram’s 2021 TRX will likely overtake the Ford in weight, due to the F-150’s use of light aluminum body panels and aluminum-block. This is all speculation since Ford has not released curb weight figures for the 2021 model yet.
In terms of price, Ram’s 2021 TRX is not likely to be cheap. Although, Ford hasn’t released any hint as to what the 2021 Raptor will cost either. Experts estimate $60k for the Raptor and $72k for the TRX. So, if you’re looking to stay in a certain price range and want a slimmer truck, then you might want to go for the Ford.
The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor and 2021 Ram 1500 TRX are highly anticipated trucks because of the manufacturers behind them. Both Ford and Ram have built their reputation on making reliable trucks on-road and off-road. If you’re not sure which one to go for, then you might want to take both for a test drive and get a feel for their comparative size. Either way, you will get great performance capabilities and killer style. Make sure, whichever you choose, that you take it to your local auto repair shop for regular maintenance and service.
