Festival of Whales 2020
Join us for two fun-filled weekends, this March 7 & 8 and 14 & 15, 2020, as we celebrate our 49th anniversary of the Festival of Whales-one of the most sought after Orange County events at the Harbor.
The Festival of Whales is a celebration of the California gray whale migration. The parade will embrace the Festival’s theme of Magical Migration accented with parade floats and entries decorated in an ocean/whale theme and costumes. It is one of the Orange County events that also highlights the overhead parade of giant helium balloons of a blue whale, orca, and many other sea life creatures.
A Little History
Known as the Whale Capital of the World, Dana Harbor Point is a reference “landmark” for the whales. Dana Point is a lovely town located south to Los Angeles on the way to San Diego. For more than 40 years, the city hosts the large nature lover crowd who arrive in the town to watch thousands of gray whales.
Apart from the migrating gray whales in the winter and the blue whales in the spring and summer, Dana Harbor Point offers an easy and quick access to board a boat or to be in the open ocean in just 5 minutes.
Details Of the Event
The festival will be staged on the west island side of the harbor near the Dana Point Yacht Club.
The parade begins at 10 AM with a new route starting at Dana Drive on the island side of Island Way, continuing over to the Island Way bridge, then right on Dana Point Harbor Drive. It will end in the Brig parking lot at the corner of Dana Point Harbor Drive and Golden Lantern.
