No, these are the entrants in the Fiesta Association’s Hairiest Man Contest, January 12th at the Swallows Inn in San Juan Capistrano. Every year the swallows return to Capistrano, but so too do these mythic beasts, all vying for the title of hairiest gentleman resident in the area. The way that it works is that each contestant must show up at the event clean-shaven. Then, over the next eight weeks, they have an opportunity to grow the most impressive mustache and beard. In March, the contestants will be judged, and a winner will be declared. You’re not likely to find a stranger event in all the OC.
