In Santa Ana on Bristol Street you’ll find this charming establishment, and the smell of fresh cookies will guide you right to it. They specialize in Mexican bread, conchas, and flan, and they have lots of vegan options. The frozen bananas with lots of different candy and nut toppings are just the thing to keep you chilling on a hot summer day. They also have a long list of smoothie options, the best of which are probably the mango or guava. Try some different ones and pick your own favorite.

Creative Cakes

On Chapman Street in Orange, Creative Cakes is much more than just another neighborhood bakery. They can make your custom cake for any occasion, weddings, birthdays, the birth of a child, or even for no good reason at all. Their cake flavors are all heavenly, but the red velvet or the devil’s food chocolate deserve top billing. There’s also a staggering list of fillings, including raspberry and chocolate mousse, fudge, cookies and cream, and a whole lot more. There are plenty of happy customers who would be glad to give you a testimonial, but you’re better off coming in and trying a few samples for yourself.

Pacific Bakery

In Santa Ana on South Bristol Street is the Bristol Food Court. There are several different restaurants, but Pacific Bakery is a hidden treasure. They specialize in sheet cakes made with a variety of fresh fruits and wafers, and they’re always happy to customize your cake with several different types of icing. Have them spell out a message of love to your significant other on their birthday, or pick up a centerpiece for a quinceanera. If you don’t need a whole cake, the tarts are also delicious.

With so many desserts and treats from which to choose, you’ll have to come up with some new holidays as an excuse to try them all. Or go because it’s Wednesday. That works too.
