Here Are Some Festive Orange County Events This Holiday
What’s happening in the OC this holiday season? We’re so glad you asked! This December there are tons of family-friendly events, and you’ll have your hands full trying to choose between them. Strap on your sleigh bells, pull out the mistletoe, and let’s dive right in.
La Palma Tree Lighting
Is there anything to get you more in the holiday mood than a Christmas tree lighting? The La Palm tree lighting is one of the biggest and best around, and it takes place December 5th from 4:30 to 8:30 pm at the Central Park Amphitheater. This is an annual holiday tradition featuring musical talents from several of the local schools. The Community Carol Sing-Along is a much-anticipated attraction, and your kids can grab a picture with Santa and his merry elves as well. There are also some arts and crafts in which to take part and some special surprises. Circle the date on your calendar.
Winter Fest at the OC Fair
Here’s another holiday event that would make even Rudolph jealous. From December the 20th through January 6th of next year, head to the OC Fair and Event Center for Winter Fest, where you can hang out with the family or cozy up to that special someone. Real snow is blown in daily, and you can make snow angels or have a snowball fight if you’re feeling frisky. There’s a nightly tree lighting ceremony, festive foods and drinks, and carnival rides. Perhaps the best part of this event, though, is the ice tubing. Your heart will race as you forget about your responsibilities and remember what it’s like to be a kid again.
Sawdust Art Festival’s Annual Winter Fantasy
This event has already begun, and it continues every weekend throughout December 16th. Truly one of the unique holiday events in all of Southern California, this art festival takes place at Laguna Beach Sawdust, where the festival grounds will be transformed into a winter playland. One hundred seventy-five artists will be on hand to sell their crafts and original creations. Check out clothing, textiles, forged metals, paintings, blown glass, ceramics, photography, and more. You can score that holiday gift for the hard-to-shop-for family members, and you’ll be supporting the local artistic community as well.
Does all of that sound appealing to you? Then grab the kids and head out for some holiday adventure.
