January 31st – February 2nd HackUCI 2020

The only terms that define such Orange County events are: Create, Connect and Inspire.

Plan to meet a talented and diverse group of developers during the HackUCI2020 to build the technology of tomorrow. HackUCI is the largest collegiate hackathon in OC. Its focus is to enhance the community around by giving people, particularly students, an opportunity to unleash their creativity. Every year it continues to improve and expand an environment of forward-thinking individuals.

Prizes are distributed among the high achiever hackers and developers in areas like health and wellness, UI/UX, API, best joke hack, entrepreneurial hacker, and best mobile and web development hack. 

So what is a hackathon basically?

HackUCI is a platform where like-minded from diverse backgrounds come together for straight 36 hours to come up with some new ideas, and together they invent something new from the ground up. The only thing that will make a difference during this event is your creativity; the rest of the management will provide everything. 

Who can attend this event?

Any student over 18 years can participate in it. 

What to bring 

You need to bring a unique idea, deodorant, photo ID, a change of clothes, technology, toiletries, pillow, blanket, and an optional bag. Please note that there will not be any showers at this Orange County Event. 

Do I need to register as an individual or a team?

Everyone has to apply as an individual, and each application is reviewed thoroughly before making the final list. 

What do I need to create?

Everyone has a unique idea and Hackuci values that. Based on the unique idea you have in your mind, you can build whatever you dream of, whether it is a game, an app, a website, or a rad piece of hardware. The only rules that apply to all every participant is, the code must be written the hackathon itself. But you can use the open-source APIs and libraries. It is a perfect time to impress the management. 

Most of the participants do not have prior coding experience. Therefore they will have attended the workshops for beginners and starter packs. As much as it helps beginners, it will help the new hackers have more ideas regarding new technologies and projects. You can even create a mobile application.

Can I come with a pre-built project?

Although most of the participants here are naive, it is great to have a prior idea about any project. Having a previous idea will help you stand out among all others. 

Will the student traveling to this event will be provided transportation cost

Organizers of these Orange County events do their best to accommodate visiting students at entirely no cost. Those who are traveling from far-flung areas will be provided reimbursement.
