These Free Orange County Events Can Entertain The Whole Family
What should you do in Orange County if you don’t have a ton of money to spend? Never fear, in this beautiful, sunny part of the state, there are always many Orange County events to choose from, and these are free. Here are some of the best happenings in September for the whole family to enjoy.
Free Fishing Day
On Saturday, September 1st is Free Fishing Day, happily enough coinciding with Labor Day weekend. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife promotes two free fishing days every year, and one of them is coming up. You won’t need a fishing license, so if you always fancied yourself an angler and wanted to give it a shot, now is the time. There are several parks in Orange County where you can try your luck, including Laguna Niguel Regional Park, Irvine Regional Park in Orange, and Mile Square Regional Park in Fountain Valley.
Irvine Global Village Festival
On September 22nd it’s the Irvine Global Village Festival, taking place in Irvine on Great Park Blvd. This will truly be a special event, featuring more than 100 performances from cultures the world over. There will be international cuisine for sale, a marketplace with ethnic art, cultural and religious activities, and crafts for kids and adults. This is a fine opportunity to learn about the many different cultures represented by the diverse communities in Orange County, and parking and festival admission are free.
San Juan Capistrano Greek Festival
Another one of the events in Orange County that is highly anticipated every year, the San Juan Capistrano Greek Festival is September 29th and 30th. There will be Greek pastries and food, kid-friendly activities, a bazaar, and live Greek music and dancing. This one is free as well, and there will be shuttles to and from the SJC MetroLink Station.
